Beginner tips and difficulty
The reported full-release difficulties are Relaxed, Tense, Survival Horror and Nightmare. After the Outskirts, tools gate progress through the open town. These tips do not claim to prevent every softlock.
Evidence and limits
Checked 14 October 2026. NPC Tips' beginner guide cites build 25806663 for item/save hints, checked 9 October, and publisher/developer replies for difficulty names. Routes and some resource behavior are player reports. This is sourced guidance, not our first-night diary or a tested menu screenshot.
Four difficulty choices
NPC Tips relays the publisher's 30 September 2026 names and a 1 October reply that Nightmare is available from the start. Relaxed and Tense favor a less punishing run; Survival Horror is described as the intended balance. No exact damage multipliers are asserted here.
Games.gg reports no difficulty-specific platform achievement. Some post-ending modifiers do require harder difficulties; that is a different goal. Bonus Action reports difficulty can be changed, but the menu state and any restrictions have not been tested here.
Save by making a phone call
Source-file save hints describe $1 payphone calls paid with a Silver Coin. Reported procedure: insert the coin, dial the save contact from the address book, then Call. Bonus Action identifies Jackman's number as 77221. Coin-return supplies are reports, not a guarantee at every phone.
Keep the tool gates separate
The opening Outskirts ambush is not the later dark radio tunnel in Riverside.
- At the motel, complete the pool/knob chain and take the Ferry Office Key before leaving.
- After reaching Riverside, get the Flashlight behind Wing Oil before its dark truck-radio tunnel.
- At the sheriff station, open the Office safe for the Evidence Lockup Key, then collect the Crowbar.
- On Church Hill, take the Sledgehammer and Crank Handle; the dock sluice needs the crank.
- Read the local clue before using a code. The motel gate requires the Guest Ledger for your save.
Inventory, stamina and repair
Hip Bags add two inventory slots in the source item text. Coffee's permanent stamina benefit is reported by guides. Duct Tape gives a small melee repair; a Repair Kit restores durability fully according to source-file text.
NPC Tips reports that inventory/code screens do not pause the world. Avoid treating menu use as a guaranteed safe pause. Preserve bottles for crafting and verify each gun's ammunition: the motel revolver uses .38, not .36.
